Meet the Crew

Owner

Whitney

My name is Whitney Baker, and I am the proud owner of Wayne County Fitness, which has proudly served our community for 7 years.

What started as a passion for fitness has grown into something so much bigger, ua place where people can come to become stronger, healthier, and more confident in themselves.

Fitness has taught me that strength isn’t just about what we can do physically. Sometimes strength means getting up when life knocks you down, taking another step when it’s hard, and continuing to move forward even when your heart is heavy.

My children and my husband are a huge part of what keeps me going. They are my family, my motivation, and a constant reminder to keep moving forward and make the most of the life I’ve been given.

My daughter is also a huge part of my drive now. Her life, her memory, and the love I carry for her remind me every day to keep going, to keep making memories, and to encourage others to never give up.

One of the Scriptures that gives me strength is:

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles…”
— Isaiah 40:31

I find inspiration in every member who walks through our doors. Your determination, your struggles, your victories, and your decision to keep showing up inspire me more than you probably realize.

My goal isn’t just to run a gym. It’s to create a place where people feel welcomed, encouraged, supported, and reminded that they are capable of more than they may believe.

Outside of the gym, I love spending time with my family, enjoying lake days, hiking, exploring new adventures, running, and making memories with my children.

And a fun fact about me? I can ice skate! I’m definitely not a pro, but I absolutely love it!

Wayne County Fitness isn’t just a gym to me. It’s a piece of my heart, seven years of hard work, and a place I’m incredibly proud to call mine. I’m grateful for every person who walks through our doors and helps make Wayne County Fitness what it is.

Owner & Maintenance

Joe

Meet Joe—co-owner of Wayne County Fitness, husband to Whitney, and a man who takes great pride in his family, his work, and his faith.

As a U.S. military veteran, Joe brings a strong work ethic, discipline, dedication, and a commitment to serving others into everything he does. Together with Whitney, he helps own and operate Wayne County Fitness and plays an important role in keeping the facility running smoothly and our equipment safe, functional, and well maintained.

Joe is also a skilled handyman and business owner, owning and operating another local business outside of Wayne County Fitness. His ability to build, repair, maintain, and problem-solve makes him the person we can count on when something needs to be fixed—or when a project needs to be done right.

Joe’s handyman business, Average Joe’s Handyman Services, can also be found on Facebook for those looking for reliable, hardworking, hands-on help with their own projects.

A devoted husband and father, Joe’s family is at the center of everything he does. His Christian faith, love for his children, and desire to provide for and protect his family are among the things that motivate him to work hard every day.

Outside of the gym, Joe enjoys hiking, hunting, boating, camping, arm wrestling, working with his hands, and spending time with his family. You’ll also find him in our MMA training area from time to time, where he enjoys helping others build strength, confidence, and determination.

Joe is a hardworking husband, father, veteran, businessman, and man of faith—and he is proud to help build Wayne County Fitness alongside Whitney.

Fun fact: Joe might just be Batman.

instructor

Lisa Marie

Lisa Marie has called Kentucky home for the past seven years and has been sharing her passion for dance and fitness at Wayne County Fitness since 2019. Her love for dance started at a young age and eventually led her to become a certified Zumba instructor, where she created her own Cardio Dance Fit classes.

After returning to Wayne County Fitness in 2024, Lisa Marie continues to inspire others through fun, energetic workouts that help members build confidence, stay active, and enjoy every step along the way. She believes fitness is about more than exercise, it’s about creating friendships, encouraging one another, and having fun while getting healthier.

Outside the gym, Lisa Marie enjoys sewing, creating beautiful fabric art, and cooking healthy meals. We’re so thankful to have her as part of the Wayne County Fitness family!

Be sure to join one of Lisa Marie’s classes you’ll leave with a smile, a great workout, and maybe even a few new friends!

Shawna

Hi, I’m Shawnna!
I’m a follower of Jesus who strives to be a light wherever He places me. When I’m not teaching REFIT, you’ll usually find me spending time with my favorite people—my significant other, Dagan, and our two amazing kids, Benson (13) and Paxton (7) I also love shopping, soaking up the sunshine, and getting lost in a good book.
REFIT has been so much more than just a workout for me. It has transformed not only my physical health but also my confidence. As someone who has always been shy and struggled with self-confidence, I never imagined I’d be leading a room full of people. Now, it’s one of my greatest joys! My hope is that every person who walks into my class feels welcomed, encouraged, and leaves stronger—physically, mentally, and emotionally. I can’t wait to dance, sweat, and have fun with you!

instructor

Cadence

Hi, I’m Cadence King.

My passion for fitness began during my own weight loss journey. After losing 85 pounds, I discovered that group fitness was the one thing that truly kept me consistent. Knowing my girls were counting on me to show up gave me the motivation to keep going, and that sense of community completely changed my life.

I currently own Faith & Form: A Fitness Studio in McCreary County, Kentucky, where I teach Pilates. One of my favorite parts of what I do is meeting new people through fitness and watching them grow stronger, more confident, and healthier. I love creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels supported, encouraged, and like they truly belong.

I’m also a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and currently pursuing my degree to become a Physical Therapist Assistant.

I look forward to meeting you and being a part of your fitness journey!
